WHAT'S HAPPENING

Life Around Town

Harvest is well underway here in our part of the world, and it’s a magical time of year. Walk or bike by a winery and you might smell grapes fermenting inside. Drive back roads and you might find yourself stuck behind a tractor or truck with bins full of freshly picked grapes. Grab a seat at a bar in town and you might spot a winemaker or vineyard workers with purple fingers. Though it’s busy season for wine workers, there still are plenty of events around town to celebrate community and the end of summer.

These are a couple of our faves:

Settle in for a lunch to remember on September 21 with Jordan Winery and Relish Culinary Adventures. The adventure begins up at Jordan in the Alexander Valley, with a continental breakfast in the culinary gardens. After grabbing some fresh produce, you’ll head into Healdsburg for a cooking class at Relish with Kristine Gallagher, chef de cuisine at the Farmhouse Inn & Restaurant. Wrap the day by enjoying the fruits of your labor—and wine of course.

Pinot Noir will be on full display September 28 at the 1st Adventure Pinot at Virginia Dare Winery in Geyserville. The event will showcase six different Pinots from Francis Ford Coppola brands such as Virginia Dare, Domaine de Broglie, Francis Ford Coppola and Votre Sante. There also will be small bites from Coppola restaurants including Café Zoetrope, Rustic, and Wero. A special wine glass is included with each ticket.
