WHAT'S HAPPENING

Life Around Town

February might be the shortest month of the year (even in a Leap Year!) but the events calendar in Healdsburg doesn’t miss a beat. Here are some of the events we’ll be attending and promoting over the next few weeks and months.

The Winter Music Series at Hotel Healdsburg offers ample opportunities to hear standout artists performing live jazz, blues and world music in the Fireplace Lobby Lounge. Held every Saturday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., upcoming events feature the David Correa Trio, the North Bay All-Stars, and Stella and the Starlights. Local chanteuse Shea Breaux Wells takes the mic regularly, too; the food menu comprises bites from Chef Charlie Palmer and his Dry Creek Kitchen next door.

Healdsburg residents know how to have a good time. Case in point: the annual Live Oak Preschool Dinner, Dance, Auction extravaganza, scheduled this year for February 29. The event is the school’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and attendees will show up in costumes supporting the theme of “Through the Decades.” Every year there are dozens of affordable wine lots. Mill District is a sponsor of the event and Matt Villano, one of our contributing writers, will be the emcee and bid-caller.

Get those road bikes ready for the Super Sweetwater ride from Grasshopper Adventures on February 29. Riders can select from two course options: A 90-miler with more than 7,900 feet of elevation gain that traces a loop from Mill District to Fort Ross and back, or a 65-mile loop with more than 5,200 feet of elevation gain. Upon returning to our site, all participants will receive a multicourse lunch prepared by Michelin-starred Chef Matt Accarrino, beer from Sierra Nevada, and wine from Arnot-Roberts, a local winery. Space is limited so reserve your spot today!

A look ahead… Lambert Bridge Winery will be kicking off their Chef’s Table Series beginning next month on March 19th and 20th. This intimate food and wine pairing experience occurs every third Thursday and Friday of the month from March until October. At a table of up to ten guests, you will enjoy a seasonally themed, four-course lunch of locally grown ingredients prepared by a Sonoma County chef paired with Lambert Bridge wines – the ultimate experience for “foodies”, wine novices and aficionados alike. Be sure book your spot. (Featured in photo below.)

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Activity Onsite

Every week brings new developments here at Mill District—some you can see and appreciate as you walk by, others that are happening behind the scenes. The most noticeable improvements have occurred on the south portion of the site and around the area that will become our park.

FEATURE SkLO

Here’s a quick language lesson for you: In Czech, “Sklo” means glass. You pronounce it |sklo|; it rhymes with “glow.” The word is a fitting name for a global glass brand based in Healdsburg—especially since the product itself hails from craftspeople in the Czech Republic.
