HELPING WITH FIRE RECOVERY
In late August, the Walbridge Fire unexpectedly spread to the south and west of Healdsburg. Now, Mill District is doing its part to help the community recover.
Over the course of the last few weeks, we have been working with Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) to assist the utility in its efforts to reinstall transformers and lines and restore power to the affected region. Specifically, we welcomed PG&E on our site to stage its trucks and equipment. Eric Chan, our director of development, explained that PG&E initiated the conversation to partner up because it was eager to get started on recovery efforts, but could not find a site to stage its equipment.
According to Eric Chan, PG&E has had crews running throughout the day—from early in the morning until late in the evening. At peak times, there have been dozens of trucks on our property.
“It is a great for us to give back to the community,” Chan said. “We have the space and they should use it to help bring back service to the community sooner, it’s a win for everybody.’”
PG&E expects to wrap up recovery efforts by the end of the month.
