There is no greater time in Healdsburg than summer. Days extend into evening. The weather is spectacular. Everyone is outside. In recent years, summertime also has attracted a host of A-list celebrities—Scarlett Johansson was spotted at the local farmers’ market earlier this month! The month of July is a great time to get out and about in the area. Here are a few local events and happenings about which we’re excited this month.
One of Healdsburg’s all-time greatest fine-dining experiences is returning permanently this fall, as Cyrus will reopen in a new location in Geyserville in September designed by Olson Kundig. Chef Douglas Keane has been waiting for years to bring his hotspot back, and the restaurant started taking reservations earlier this month. The new Cyrus sits in the middle of a vineyard and has spectacular panoramic views of the vines. A special room for bubbles and canapes and caviar undoubtedly will be a memorable part of the experience. See a sneak peak of Cyrus below.
Healdsburg’s newest wine-tasting destination actually is seven tasting rooms in one. Plus a market. And a courtyard. The destination, Bacchus Landing, is quickly becoming a popular destination for among visitors who wish to sample wines from different wineries but don’t want to have to worry about getting around. Special events on Saturdays and Sundays bring in live music and food trucks; the idea is to encourage guests to come by, grab some food, purchase wine by the bottle or glass, and stay a while.
SingleThread restaurant remains the only restaurant in Sonoma County to boast three Michelin stars, and there’s a new way to connect with the SingleThread experience: at the farm. The restaurant recently opened a farmstand at its 24-acre farm in the middle of the Dry Creek Valley—the very same farm at which co-owner Katina Connaughton grows many of the fruits and vegetables chefs incorporate into the dishes. Time your visit right and you might even spot Katina and her team harvesting produce for that evening’s service.
