The end-of-year holidays are downright jovial here in Healdsburg. Local wineries get into the spirit by decking halls with holiday cheer. One of our favorite bakeries, Costeaux, breaks out its annual display of nutcrackers. Shops stock shelves with artisan items that would make perfect gifts for under the tree or menorah. There’ll even be carolers on the plaza. This year’s late fall event calendar is chock full of other activities. Here are some of our favorites.
*Finger sandwiches, macarons and other delectable sweets are on the menu at the annual Hotel Healdsburg Holiday Tea, available on Saturdays and Sundays from November 30 until December 22. Executive Chef Scott Romano prepares for each table a tower of goodies featuring local ingredients such as olive oil from A. Rafanelli Winery. Guests can pick tea from a list of about a dozen options; sparkling wine and cocktails also are available for a small upcharge. (Pictured below.)
*There’s no better way to prepare for a meal of turkey and stuffing than with a 5-kilometer run around town. Enter the November 28 Healdsburg Turkey Trot. The race starts in front of the Healdsburg Running Company and winds around the flat parts of town before ending with a big party on the plaza. This year, as always, part of all proceeds go to support the Drew Esquivel Scholarship, which helps student/athletes from the region attend college.
*Considering our love of cycling and our commitment to philanthropy, Mill District is proud to support the King Ridge Foundation, the charitable partner to Levi’s GranFondo. The organization has been serving at-risk youth in Northern California since 2009 and a big part of its funding comes from the annual King Ridge Foundation gala. This year’s party will be held December 7 at the Mill District site. For tickets and information, click here.
