WHAT'S HAPPENING

Virtual Tastings

VIRTUAL TASTINGS AROUND SONOMA COUNTY

Since events for March and April have been canceled to protect public health, this month we’re spotlighting local wineries that have launched virtual wine-tasting experiences. About a dozen wineries have moved tasting operations online. Here are a few that we love:

One of the first local wineries to launch virtual tastings is Dirty and Rowdy Family Winery in Santa Rosa. Co-owner Hardy Wallace is opening a different wine every Saturday and conducting virtual tastings on Zoom. The series is designed to have customers taste along with a group; wines are available for purchase in three-packs that correspond to the upcoming tasting schedule.

Comstock Wines (pictured below), in the heart of the Dry Creek Valley is offering a new tasting named S.I.P. Comstock. They invite customers to purchase three-packs of wine, then they pair each bottle with a Facebook Live tasting every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Tastings are run by winemaker Chris Russi and other members of the hospitality team.

Gary Farrell Vineyards & Winery, in the Russian River Valley kicked off a virtual tasting program as well, around a six-bottle selection of single-vineyard wines from around the region. Customers who purchase the half-case also have an exclusive opportunity to schedule private Zoom tastings with estate sommeliers Tyffani Kuhn and Kevin Patterson.
